Should I keep driving and using tractor for light duty or rebuild transmission?
Any thoughts on this.[/img]

I would drain the oil and look for the missing tooth. I would go
fishing with a magnet. I would fear the chipped tooth could do a
lot of damage.

Or was the tooth ground off?
If ground off look for metal filings.
What would cause it be chipped off or ground off??
I have no clue.

I drove my John Deere B for several years with a broken tooth until on a cold day in January the broken tooth picked up in the stiff trans
lube and got between two gears and bent a shaft in the transmission.

Where are you located Randy? I have an 8N trans with all the
gears in it that I would give away if you can pick it up locally.
I'm in central Michigan.

As already posted I would fish the piece out and use it for light duty. Remember that it was designed to be able to spin the tires with some ballast added. As Royse posted a used tranny is readily available no matter where you are. I would not consider rebuilding it.

I would look at the mating gear teeth, and act accordingly. Also find the broken tooth. It looks like the
gear next to it is a bit rough. Is this the countershaft gear? Mark.

Found the the tooth and cleaned out trans, only makes a clicking sound.
Thank you

Only hear a clicking noise when in any gear while operating at all speeds. Noise never stops, and clicks at trans rpms.
This happened when trans got stuck in 2 gears.
