Headlamp...a simple on and off.

Does anyone have a headlamp that you can simply turn on and off and not have to go through anywhere from 3 to 5 modes the problem comes in when I have to talk to someone at work.

I got a 3-pack of cheapies at Tractor Supply for 10 bucks. High, low, and off, so you do have to press twice for off but no flashers, red blinkers, or other extra garbage just to use it. Worked well enough I got 2 more 3-packs and handed them out individually as gifts, all of which were much appreciated by young and old alike.

you mean as to use as sign language? hard hat headlite?, flashlite? , red amd blue like police lights ? ???

I thought his question was pretty straight forward. He s asking about a head lamp (to wear on your head) that has a simple on off switch instead of having to click through 3-5 modes before it turns off. It can be a pain, especially when most of the modes are pointless.

now that u mention it, yes. i have heard headlight and headlamp being called the same thing. mine has 3 settings high , low and red. maybe
red if your lost at night in a snow storm. the 3 make sense to me.

Red is used by hunters to see their trail in the woods at night. Supposedly, the critters can't see red light.

Here's one with high, low and off. Most sporting goods stores have a large selection.

I have 2 types of head lamps. One is made by Energizer and is tough as nails. There are two buttons on top; one for spotlight mode and the other for flood mode. Each mode has high and low power.

The other head lamp is an Amazon special (ie; no-name Chinese) and is SUPER bright! It has one button, but 3 choices; high, low, flash, off.

As for the different modes and such, I use them all. There's lots of times I don't need high power, so I use low power. Also lots of times I need high power. And yes, the flash mode comes in mighty handy when trying to get someone's attention or when chasing away a skunk in the dark of night.

Not a day goes by that I don't use a head lamp on several occasions. Don't know how I ever got along without them!

As for your question, I think you might still be able to find an older headlamp that uses a halogen bulb that has a simple on/off switch, but 1) it will be expensive, 2) it will be heavier/bulkier due to larger (probably lead acid) battery, and 3) shorter run times as the halogen bulb uses more power. Such head lamps used to be used in mining, but also in dog sledding. Don't know about mining (but can take a guess), but dog sledding has pretty much fully switched over to LED.

One thing you could do is to buy one of the newer head lamps along with a small switch of your liking and wire it in. This will work on head lamps where the battery is at the rear of your head. There are also head lamps with battery worn on belt, but been a long time since I've seen them as I just haven't needed that kind. That kind might also have a simple on/off switch.

Ware one everyday I work on/off nothing fancy is what I like. They have a lifetime warranty that works I sent 3 back they sent me 3 new ones. They offer replacement headbands I keep extra order 6 at a time. They have a dimmer leaver on the back I RTV it so the leaver stays put. I want a bright light all the time don't care for the dimmer.
