Farmall B starter replacement

I have a Farmall B (serial number - FAB201440, Chicago, IL) that needs a new or rebuilt starter. It has a gas engine and is powered with a 6 volt system. The original equipment, I believe, is a Delco 1107021 with a saddle mounted start switch that is oriented in a way that the operator pushes the linkage with his foot from the seat in order to start the tractor . As I have searched for an aftermarket starter all that I have been able to find are starters that after install would have the switch turned around 180 degrees so that the linkage would have to be modified in order to start the tractor. I would rather not have to altar the design of the starting mechanism. Where can I find the correct starter for this model tractor?

What's wrong with your old starter?

If nothing real serious you should be able to repair it yourself.

It's always nice to keep original American-made components, if at all possible.

YT sells parts .

Farmall B Starter, 6 VoltStarter, 6 Volt - For C113 and C123 Gas engines on: A, B, C, Super A, Super C, 100, 130, 140, 200, 230. Replaces Delco 1107093, 1107067, 1108096. (Item #: 109655, Ref: SDR0092) $159.80

I bought an new 12v starter for my Jubilee after it was converted to 12v.

If you know how to rebuild starters they sell parts.

YT does sell starters but if you look closely at the starter they sell you will notice that the start switch is mounted in a reverse position so that the push linkage will no longer work. The picture that I have included illustrates the current design.

Not sure what is causing the starter not to work properly. I have never rebuilt a starter before. Looks like I may need to learn how to.

My 1950 Farmall c has a pull switch.
Why can't you take your starter apart and reverse the switch and make it a pull s?

I think, and I may be wrong, that the switch will mount on the starter in either position. In other words, the same switch can be pushed or pulled depending on which way it is mounted.

contac HARVEY BROS they will have the correct one they are the best in the rebuilt business and probably the oldest. With your serial# makes your tractor a Louisville model as those started with serial 200,000 in 1947

you need to replace the button for the pull sw because it needs to be turned the correct way for the sw to work

consider using a 6-volt solenoid a key and do away with the push pull rod. Much simpler and works well and is less prone to accidental starts by the uneducated or mischievous
I use this set up on our BN and only we who have the key can mess with the lights or starter since they are wired through the key as a standard auto system is.

I see a way a redneck could install a lever between a pull rod and the push rod. Pulling on the rod, the lever changes the direction and pushes.

I don't see any problem a little creativity could not solve..

I could definitely do some redneck engineering and change the set up to pull the switch to start but wanted to keep original if possible. I followed the advise of one of the posters and called JP in Missouri. He had seven original rebuilt starters and was very easy to work with! I should have one in a few days. Once I put that starter on, I will work on rebuilding mine myself (never rebuilt a starter) and then I'll have a spare. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.
