This is my second post about this tractor, here is a link to the first:

Here is an update to that post, I took the carb apart and it looks fine (it is just about a year and a half old) I put it back on and it wouldn t even fire on starting fluid. I tried timing the magneto, I think I got it right. It still won t work though. I don t know if it doesn t have enough ignition or what, but pretty much everything in the magneto is brand new or just replaced a month or so ago. I checked the compression in the number 2 cylinder and it was 75 which seems a little low but I don t think that is the problem considering it was running fine.

Also, here is a video of the spark plug. I don t know if you can tell if it has enough ignition or not.

That should fire up . You got something else wrong .

Timing ,make sure you got number one tdc ,take valve cover off if you have to.

Make sure magneto is at number rotor one postion at tdc .

Compression

No vacuum leaks anywhere

Squirt some oil into cylinders (2 cycle ) 30 wt. to bring compression up .

Shoot some starting fluid down the air filter tube intake .

Fresh gas in carburetor.

Spark to all cylinders

Sand paper clean spark electrode

Clean rotor with fine sandpaper

Clean distributor cap contacts

It will start

When checking for rotor position also check for rotational direction some turn opposite of others. The number 1 position on the cap is not a mantitory thing. More important to get the wire on the right tower for the position of the spark.

I got it running, I had the timing backwards. Instead of firing at top dead center on the compression stroke I had it firing at top dead center on the exhaust stroke.
