I have seen two wooly bears and both of them had short black heads and tails and a large brown band in the middle that is supposed to mean a mild winter I hope their right. Randy

I totally trust those predictions when they suggest a mild winter, and I ignore them completely when they say colder than usual.

My wifes father had a sawmill and a crew in the woods,so she believes in all those things she was told as a little girl being around all those guys.This morning she told me to get ready for a lot of snow because the wasps had built their nests up high in the trees.If there was going to be a little snow they would have built them down low in the blueberry bushes.The nests ARE up high this year around me.The guy I sold my bush hog to told me he has not run over one wasp nest in a bush this year.

I have seen a lot less bees anywhere this year. It worries me.

have seen very few bees, wolly bears, monarch buttreflies, and preying mantis. What gives?

That caterpillar can not predict how cold the winter will be any more than that rodent can tell us with his shadow when spring will start.
