Finishing up the home place where Son had his early beans planted--The rest of them are still days off. The 9600 is a 1989 model and the 8830 is a 1979 model. Son had all corn the last two years so the 8820 has not been used. Last time we used it a straw walker broke in two so it sat in the shed until two weeks ago and I found four real good used ones out of a 6620 and laid on my back and changed them--What a crappy-dirty job!! But we got them changed--Son has a 30 ft. 930 on his 9600 and I have a 25 ft. 930 on the 8820--For a 33 and a 43 yr. old combine we still get quite a bit done.---Tee

Looks good.
This is our only antique combine that Grandpa bought new in 1957. It only gets used once a year for the annual hometown parade. Everyone onboard is a descendent of the original owner. This year there were grandkids and great-grandkids. Im going to see if I can get their only remaining child to ride next June. She will be 95 and still gets around very good for a lady of her age.

Love it . Nice to see the JDs working . I grew up with Massey 300 410 510 . Then worked for a neighbor with a 7700 DEERE ,THEN A 7720 . Deere set the pace with cabs and comfort . Many people do not like Deere , but I do . Kevin

Don't know on the yield--I count the semis leaving for town and guess how many bu. are in them but I think they are GOOD?????

They get the job done and are paid for--A friend that lives on the other side of town farms the 160 across the road from us and has a almost new Deere S-790 with a 16 row cornhead--We are usually done when they harvest it so I take the Gator and go across the road and ride with him for a while--WOW---Tee

I remember the pic you had on here last year or ?? of your brothers riding it in the parade--Love small town celebrations--Thanks---Tee

I was in the combine shop of our Deere in town a couple of weeks ago and was talking to a younger buddy that works there--He said they didn't get one 20 series combine in this past year to work on--Just like taking your two banger Deere to town to get it worked on and they will say-Sorry--all the two cylinder mechanics retired 20 years ago!!!!---Tee

There used to be lots of 8820's and 9600's in my area but only a very few are still in use...Good old combines...Soybean yields will be poor in my area due to a D-3 drought...Corn is from 0-80 bpa.

Thanks for sharing, that 9600 is so much easier to work on compared to the 20 series. Worked with each one on wheat harvest run in 1993 and 1994.
Good ole 95 got a clean up here after the corn was done this past week.
Thanks for your pics.
GG

I am running corn with a 9500 and beans with the 9560 and 7720. The old 7720 will hold its own unless the steams are green and the rotor machine will shine.
