Naracootre Caves in South Australia. Caves are around 1.3 million years old and contained the bones of many strange animals that died out many thousands of years ago. They had fallen into the caves and could not get out. Great natural history museum. They are also the home of thousands of bats.

Our guide said, 'Come in the early evening and see the bats leave the cave to feed' so we did, sat on the hillside on a warm evening and waited. Dressed in shorts and short sleeved tops. The bats came out in their thousands and were soon swooping around us in a great ariel display. Quite an experience. What our guide did not tell us was they were feeding on mosquitos that were also feeding on our exposed flesh!!!! We itched for days.

We visited a cave one time in South Dakota, I believe. When we got down into it, the guide turned the lights off, just to show us what it was like. Believe me, until you have experienced that, you do not know what TOTAL darkness is like! What we think is darkness at night does not even come close! There is always a little bit of light in the background someplace. But not down there!!

My first caving experience was down a salt mine in Austria. You walked down the
tunnels with your shoulders touching each wall and your head bent down on your chest.
The guide also turned the light out, and, as you say, that is black darkness.

My maternal family were all coal miners in the English Midlands. Glad my parents went
into farming out in the open. :0) When my uncles took their shirts off their bodies
were covered in black scars where scrapes and cuts had absorbed the coal dust.

An interesting place to visit for sure! We have Cumberland Caverns nearby, Mammoth cave up in KY, we have visited both. I dispute the experts Aging of things like that. God Created the earth and everything in it from nothing in 6 literal 24 hour days. I believe it was not millions, but only a few thousand years ago. See ICR.ORG Did Medieval artists see real Dinosaurs?
