Kubota problems

Anyone hearing of a big problem with 4 wheel drive Kubotas? Two almost new kabotas around here this week had their front axles completely roll out from under their front ends while brush hogging. One was 75 hp & other was 45 hp. Neighbor has the 45 hp & I had to go down & chain my bucket to his brushguard, cut 2 hydraulic hoses & bring it up to where a rollback got to it. From what was left that I could see it looked like the only thing holding the front axle on was a snap ring! LOL. The 'hog ran over whatever fell off so nothing was ever found of whatever it lost. Exact same story with the 75 hp.

Kinda strange for a Kubota to just fall apart. I'm not a fan of a Kubota, but they are well built. Did the front axles take a large hit from a hidden hole or washout?

IF now this is IF the bush hog would have fallen in a hole or wash out or snag it would seem the greatest force should have been seen at the rear axles. Now Im not a Kubota engineer and it could be (and most probably is) that the front axles have less shear than the rear axles but the rear axles would dampen a whole lot of the force that the front axles are subjected to. Im not saying this is the absolute answer but only a theory. Wingnut

I currently have three four wheel drive Kubota's and have traded three others in on newer models. Knock on wood, I haven't had or even herd of any front end problems on any of the models. Hopefully I won't experience any in the future.

I think you must have just had two strange ones. Over the past 30 years can't think of very many and sure have not had anything common like that in the last few years. We have a link called TOP TOPICS so if something goes to showing up common at several dealers it will come to the attention of all dealers to check. I just looked and nothing there about front end failures, like I said you must have just heard of two strange incidents.

I had little choice but to buy a Kubota.
They are the best dealer in Terre Haute.
And the only dealer that has been in business since 1967.
The dealer also sells caseIH.
The color of a tractor isn't as important to me as the dealer..

My 2022 orange interloper (MX5400) is financed for 84 months with $250 deductible insurance to cover it.
Whatever happens to it is covered for $250.
Flip it, roll it, dent it, blow it up, $250
If new enough, I get a new one. Older gets repaired.
Cheap enough insurance.
No insurance, eh?

The front axle of the very first 4 wheel drive Kubota that we put a FEL on walk out from under the front the first day it went off the lot. Week later we got a notice that a new reinforced front axle mounting kit was available in case a loader was mounted on tractor. That was a long time ago though.

not that either owner noticed. Both owners said it happened out of the blue. Neither owner knows the other one. Happened the same week, 20 miles apart.

Agreed, rear end takes the big hit. Hogging once with Ford 2N & Woods M5 'hog & went into a dip & the hump where the 3rd member attaches atop the rear end snapped off. Had to have a expert braize it back on. That's why right-of-way tractors used a chain instead of a 3rd member.

There has to be more to the story. The front axle on them is mounted very robustly similar to every other MFWD with big pivot castings. Our 50 hp one has happily spent a big part of its almost 4000 hours life with up to 9-10,000 lbs on the front axle when doing really heavy loader work.

I'm assuming someone is assembling them incorrectly at your local dealer when assembling the crates they arrive on.
