Clean Rye Seed Prices

I'm getting ready to seed some rye cover crop on the high ground to protect it from winter erosion. Nutrien is telling me $30.00 per bu. Ouch! What do you guys pay for clean rye seed in your area? I'm in Michigan.

I paid 15 bucks per 50# bag for bin run rye at Millington Elevator Millington Mi. I called around and it was the best price I could get. I brought 10 bags for cover crop. I planted a couple acers and it came up good. Just planted the rest today.

I have custom cleaned 39,100 bushel of small grains so far this year. $30 is well beyond any prices I have heard. I cleaned for a guy yesterday that had bought supposedly cleaned rye at $9.50 a bushel bulk. I filled 7 55 gallon drums of small rye, broken rye and weed seeds out. Even after losing 30ish bushels he is well under $13 a bushel.

I also rent out a grain drill. Guy 5 miles south of town said he bought bagged rye for $19 for 50 lbs.

You could call welter seed in onslow Iowa or Viking seed in Albert Lea Mn. If you are getting a skid, I will bet you could pay the freight and still come out better than nutrien treats you:

You can get it close to Owosso MI . Try 989 723 1886 Would be Zmitko farms seeds. He sells lots of seed wheat, beans and small seeds like Cloovers,alfalfas oats and more. I have bought seed from him in the past. He will also fill your wagon or tender if you contact him. I bought wheat seed last year took the wagon over and he milled right into the wagon to fill it. Seed will be treated or not as you desire I believe also. Talk to George sr. or jr.

I raise a few acres of rye for seed mostly my own use. I did sell some uncleaned seed at $8.00 per bushel to a neighbor. Also some cleaned, leftover 2021 seed at $10.00 per bushel.
