One for sale on the highway. Meant to stop in on my way to the
post office but blew by not paying attention. Any pros or cons?
Looked on Tractor House kind of a price spread. This one looks
to have good sheet metal, no FEL, tires look good also. I need to
stop in and ask what he wants and get a few pics. Any advise?

I split a 2010 that was formerly a TLB, but just ended up as a loader tractor. I had it around the place for a couple months after I got the power steering fixed, and I loved it. One thing you have to be careful about is the quadrant for the H-L-R shifter gets worn, and careless shifting can throw you over the dashboard if you drop down from High too far and hit Reverse. The front pump disconnect jaw clutch was a wimpy piece and prone to stripping the dogs off. Just pull the pump and put a straight spline shaft in there and make it full time drive, like everything else is. Parts might be a problem for some, but I never saw any evidence of it. Stop and look at it . Sure doesnt cost anything to ask

There was a very good reason 2010 got to be known as the sorriest tractor JD ever manufactured. The one with diesel engine is the worst but their brakes & hyd systems weren't very dependable.

Now this is funny. I once said the 2010 was not a good tractor and I got LAMBASTED. "One of the best Deeres ever made! Plenty of parts out there!"

My late uncle had one. It was kind of ragged out and well used but one day he went to shift it and it locked up. He went to get it fixed, and, as stated earlier, NO PARTS. He ended up junking it and getting a New Holland compact tractor.

Thanks for the replies. I dont need another tractor. It just really looked clean from the highway. Ill pass, dont need to buy a problem machine.

I had a Feed Customer once that had 2 of them..hated them both. I asked then why
do you have 2? He said the first one was so bad he bought a second just to confirm he was right! He was. He also had a 4020 and had plenty of $ so no big deal to him.

oops, dont say that too loud or this 2010 might hear you ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

dad bought it used in 1971 with 617 hours on it. Now it is acrewed around 6,000 hours. Lots of drawbar work plowing, disking, drilling. Lots of heavy 3 point work with heavy startup PTO loads such as air blast sprayers, flail
mowers and harvesters.

To date, it has had piston rings replaced and valves ground the once and only time the engine has been apart, and over the years it had waterpump replaced once, starter replaced once, brakes relined once, transmission clutch rebuilt
once, radiator removed and cleaned once, bearings and brushes replaced in generator once, one power steering hose replaced, one roll pin replaced in shift linkage, and fan belt replaced once. original distributer has had many sets
of tuneup parts but never a problem with bushings. Carburetor has never been apart. Front wheel bearings have never been apart<p

As I previously stated 2010 with diesel engine were the major cause for 2010 having "BAD Reputation" & I think I see a carburetor on the one in your photo.

As I've stated in the past back when I was employed by JD dealer there was a common statement about JD 2010 tractors. ""One couldn't break a good one & couldn't repair a BAD one""

I had a Uncle that had a 2010Deisel and he never took care of anything and that tractor took all the abuse he could give it and kept going. How it ever did I don't know. The 2010 utility like he had and like in the pictur the only problen I saw with it was not enough clearance between the steering wheel, and dash, knuckle buster there, Even on smooth ground, now on the row crop that was taken care of and I would have liked to have had a row crop gas tractor. But out of my price range.

My best friends dad had two of them bought them brand new. High clearance to pull sprayers for tomatoes. He told me he hoped that everyone that had anything to do with designing them got fired.

I had a 2010 for about a year. Unlike many other tractors, it did not take well to deferred maintenance. If the upkeep is done, it's a good worker. Lot of time spent on the shifter and PTO. Once it works, it works. Can't let things go on it, or will be useless.
