ISO Ford 4600 engine rebuild

Need a rebuild on my 1978 Ford 4600 3 cyl diesel. Can pull the engine and deliver. I'm in Louisiana, but have kids in KY or IA, so anywhere in-between will work for me also. Probably should do it myself, but if your scared, say your scared! Thanks

I second the suggestion for Abilene Machine. I don't know if they would rebuild your engine for you
but they probably have a rebuilt engine in stock.

If you can take it off and reinstall it just find a local machine shop that works on tractor engines
Actual reassembly of the engine isn t that hard with a good service manual
A machine shop that works on diesel engines and understands the different machining requirements is the important part
The 201 engine is a very tuff engine and rarely does the crank need more than a good polish, with the porosity issue the block is known for if it needs bores having sleeves installed is highly recommended
I ve had to replace a few rods due to stretch in the piston pin bushing area, if the bushings are loose or takes very little effort to remove its best to replace that rod

I m in Ky but the only way I rebuild one is to install it on the tractor and hear it run
