Tractor lost power

Had just rebuilt the transmission, made four passes around a large pasture with a brush hog and the tractor lost power to the rear wheels. Unhooked the brush hog and the tractor could barely pull It's self back to the garage .

Welcome to the forums. It helps to know what tractor, engine, (transmission if options) you are asking about.

Still need more info. Lost power to rear wheels,,, Unhook mower and now it has power to rear wheels? First I was thinking clutch plate but that will not fix itself by pulling draw pin.

So, lost power is what we say when the engine gets real weak, and aputters or idles so slow it cant hardly pull the tractor around.

But I dont think ou actually mean that?

I think you mean the engine runs fine, but the rear end of the tractor is not moving much.

Like the clutch is slipping, or a shaft stripped out and isnt transmitting the power to the rear wheels?

Was the mower still spinning, powered, by the pto, or did both the pto and rear wheels lose power?

Going to take a little bit here to get us all on the same page, so Im just trying to throw some ideas out and see if that helps you. :)

he mower seemed to run fine and the tractor after unhooking the mower was still sluggish.

If the engine is running fine that means your clutch is slipping. There is nothing you can do to "adjust it away." You will need to split the tractor to access the clutch to assess the problem, and will likely need to replace it.

The mower was still running and were getting little to no power. Unhooked the mower and the tractor could barely move. After rebuilding the transmission, I've had it out several times testing it and it went through the gears fine and had plenty of power. Yesterday, I hooked the mower up and mowed four times around a big field and that is when it lost most of the power to the drive wheels.

They don't charge you by the word here! Use some! Is the tractor movement sluggish while the engine is strong? or is the engine sluggish????

AHH. I think he said this: Unhooked the brush hog and the tractor could barely pull It's self back to the garage .

He did post that, but that still doesn't answer if the problem is in the transmission that he just worked on, or clutch, or the differential, or the engine. More info needed.
