The tapered sides are interesting. I assume to shed water. That style did not appear here in central NY, but probably should
have. Corn on the edges of the crib would turn black from repeated soakings, but once mixed in with the rest of the corn didn't
seem to be an issue.

FIL had one built like that. It went down the road to a neighbor to be used as a storage shed. It's still there.
