Need Help with Fuel Line Fitting Sizes

Guys, I m trying to get this old tractor running again and was looking at the pictures at home (it s an hour away at the farm), and noticed the fuel line is missing. I have the original MS carburetor with me and it has been fully rebuilt. I m trying to gather everything I m going to need to hook up the fuel system. With the fuel line missing, can I get a piece of brake line at parts store? If so, what size line? Also, what fittings will I need to hook the line up at the fuel sediment bowl and at the carburetor? Pictures are attached.

Yes, the premade 5/16 steel brake line is the popular choice. It hand bends
easily without kinking, just use good judgment.

But you will need to change the fitting on the carb. The fittings on the line
are called 'inverted flare'. You'll want to keep the line intact, as it has
better fittings than can be made with a hand flare tool.

I can't tell about the fitting on the sediment bowl, it might be good.

What I like to do is use a piece of wire and bend it into the shape needed,
then straighten it and measure to determine the length.

A real auto/truck supply will be more likely to have the fittings and lines
than a chain store.
 
The existing carb fitting, if original,MAY have a screen on the carb end, if so it for sure would be good to keep.
 
The fittings look like compression fittings to me. I would keep them. They are much easier to seal and not have a leak compared to flared fittings.
 
Using copper nickel line bends easy and doesn't kink when bending. Of course I suppose it would if you try to bend it that short or tight. I like Flared fittings better than those Ferrel outfits. The ferrels seem to get over tightened in the idea they will not leak if over tightened like battery clamps on posts. then both are shot if not replaced or straightened out. Flared fittings will strip if you try over tightening.
 
Looks like an inside flare on the sediment bowl. Why not take both fittings out, and with you to the parts store. That way you can find the line you want, and buy a new fitting or 2 to match the line you get. steve
 
You don't say what tractor, but I infer by the color and the '17' in the picture its an Allis. (D-17, maybe.)

Not familiar with them, but most of my old tractors use 5/16 fuel lines. I use the nickel/copper brake lines.

Your fitting on the carburetor is for a compression nut, but the compression sleeve and the nut are missing. NAPA used to have both the
nuts and sleeves, but now they want to sell the complete elbow with nut and sleeve. The compression fittings work great with the brake
line. I have never had a failure with them except for those times when I found the nut cross threaded.

P.S. the carburetor is threaded 1/8 pipe.

I cannot see what fitting is on the filter bowl, but would assume its the same, only straight.
 
Thanks to all that have responded. Yes it is an Allis Chalmers D-17 Series 4 gas burner. I would like to find a pre-bent OEM style fuel line for it if anyone offers it. That way I'm not guessing and can save time when going up there and it'll be right! If not, sounds like I will need (2) fittings to go from 1/8" pipe to the fitting size on the brake line.
 
If you can't find pre-bent, post that you need the length (and a pic) off someone's D-17 in the Allis Chalmers forum further down in the menu. That way you won't have to guess.

Perfect! Also, my air cleaner assy isn't complete and is off the tractor, so it would be a total guess! Thanks!
