Have you bought any tubes of grease lately?

I just got home from seeking to buy some tubes of molybdenum grease. Tractor Supply has none and doesn't expect to get any since they have ordered it multiple times and have been told by their buyers that it is not currently available. I then went to Walmart. They had two tubes of it but no more. I bought the two tubes and hope that one or the other of those companies will have more within the next month or so when I expect that I'll need more.

Supply chain problems?

Now that you have enough to get by, look on Amazon and Ebay.

Watch the price though, for some reason grease tubes create confusion, be it unknowing or intentional, watch the quantities. Some try to charge case price for a single tube!

Lubrizol supplied much of the grease and additives before the IL plant burned. To complicate matters further, additives supplied by Hina and other countries are in seriously short supply. I keep hearing a couple of lube products are going to get scarce, but who knows. Buy what you need for the next year and move on.

I stopped at Farm and Fleet yesterday to get a couple of gallons of barn and fence paint. They've had the stuff for years but the shelves were empty, paint girl said they haven't had it for two years. Supply issues with ingredients she thought.

I have a Household Hazardous Waste facility about two miles from my house. Useful non-hazardous stuff is made available free to county residents. I find all kinds of stuff there, much beyond spray paint, Armorall, and plant food. This week I found six unopened quarts of Ford auto tranny fluid and an unopened tube of #2 grease, all for free. I've also found several unopened gallons of green antifreeze, many bottles of power-steering fluid, lots more AT fluid, wiper fluid, a few motor oils, lots of penetrating oil (spray and bottles), anti-seize lube, wheel-bearing grease, various oil treatments, etc., etc. I don't use some of this stuff in my newer vehicles, but for servicing my 1980 beater pickup and my Ford 8Ns and Farmall Cub tractors that get very little use, and for greasing the fittings on my Deere garden tractors,I have no problem with unopened grease, oil, antifreeze, etc. I even grabbed an almost-full 5-gallon can of gun grease I can use if a grease shortage should strike.

(FWIW , it's not grease but a bit oily, I've treated my house decks and three trailer decks, picnic table and other outside wood with free Thompson's and other water-seal products from the recycle place. It's amazing how many unopened cans of Thompson's show up. A gallon can this summer was on sale at a big-box for around $16.)

Bought a case of tubes last spring at the local Co-op. Didn't seem to be a problem getting them but I was a little shocked at the price. I think it was around $5 per tube.
