Those old 6x6's with the auto transmission were a gutless wonder. Back when, I had a guy come to me about pulling his out from delivering some firewood to somebody and it would not even spin a wheel just set and grunt even in low range in it. Under powered inline 6 in it.

I didn't think the CCKWs ever came with an automatic. My dad used them for log trucks and you wouldn't believe the places we took them. Sometimes a half mile or more off the road in the mountains. They were slow though, but most trucks were back then.

In the late '60's we were still using those old CCKW's in our National guard unit. They had a 270 GMC inline 6 engine, a Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission, and a 2-speed auxiliary. They were practically unstickable and absolutely dependable. Most had a PTO winch on front too.
