My 620 had a big puff of white/blue smoke when I started it today. It did not do this last week, nor any other time I have run it. It has new spark plugs and plug wires, and always starts very easily. Any idea what this could be?

How long did the tractor set since it was last started? What is the condition of your tractor as in has it recently been overhauled? If not, and it is getting some age on it this just means the rings are getting some wear on them. Oil that collected in the rings and around the piston from when
It last was run settled down and pooled in the bottom of the cylinders. Then when you started it the oil quickly burned in the first few combustion cycles and came out the exhaust in the form of smoke you saw. Nothing to be alarmed about just something that happens.

Check the oil level for overfull. Running rich, gas left on, could raise and dilute the oil and cause smoke.

Or it could be just showing some wear.

It had set for about a week prior to the smoke. It had sat for almost a year before that and it didnt smoke and then. It had started hard after sitting for a year, so maybe the oil that was sitting just got more distributed before it fired up. The shed we store it in is almost perfectly level, so I wouldnt think oil is settling where it shouldnt from sitting crooked

This tractor has never been overhauled to my knowledge, and it only has 3,800 hours on it. Its been a fairly low use tractor all its life

Isnt it odd that it started doing that so suddenly? It would make sense if some oil was getting past the rings but youd think it would be a gradual occurrence not just all Of the sudden but who knows
