New sections on a cub sickle mower. Put the belt and pulley on the cub. Of course when I installed the mower I didn't notice it was too far under the ford to fold up!! Couple wood blocks and backed the ford out, up and over.

Changed the oil, lift fluid and transmission fluid in the new '48 cub. Then cleaned it and the '49.

Dry enough this evening to try out the mower. Did good.

Lucky there is a vacant lot next door that doesn't get mowed often!

If you have clearance for the nuts I would change it over to bolted sections and dump the rivets. Once you had them you would not go back to rivets and all the nonsense.

Does it want to turn right?

I have a 6 ft.? (maybe) sickle mower on a Massey Harris Pony. When I tried the sickle mower the little tractor really wanted to turn right.

I know the cubs are better balanced at doing other chores, so maybe they run a sickle mower better too.

As you get older you will find hammering things hurt and in the long run do you harm now as in what you do now will come back and bite you I know that is why I have so much back problems and have to have a bunch of things done in the near future like an MRI and ultrasound etc.

Old , I'm really in trouble then, when I was younger we framed houses and didn't have nail guns, I bet I've driven a million nails! Still building decks and installing fences, carrying lumber and post hole diggers sure seem worse than a hammer!

GP,
You are lucky.
When I was younger I drove too many nails swinging a framing hammer.
My right shoulder hurts me 24/7/365.
I wish I had an air nailer when I was younger.

Do you mean it wants to just keep pulling to the right while mowing or at other times? Is it a side mount mower or on rear of tractor? A dull knife can cause that by pulling too hard and the higher a gear you are in will cause it more than a lower gear. Also improper adjustment can do that. To get the size count the number of sections on the knife, a 6' mower will have 24 sections, a 5' will have 20 sections and a 7' will have 28 sections. The knife sections are 3 inch wide each. The longer the bar the more it would want to pull tractor sideways to right if dull knife and trying to go too fast in hard to cut grass. Dont think the tractor has anything to do with the pulling to side while mowing. Does it drive straight without any pull with the bar lifted and out of gear? if so then look for bad steering compontents.

I too have worked construction. House building and roofing etc. Both my shoulder are shot due to the things I did when I was younger. Just like my back has problems due to living a rough life and doing things that probably should have been done in different ways then I did them.
