John Deere 750 Engine Rebuild

I have a John Deere 750 and am looking for an engine rebuild/overhaul kit. The engine model is 3T80UJ. I've not been able to locate a rebuild kit specifically for that model. Would a rebuild kit for another model number (e.g. 3T80, 3T80D, or 3T80J) work on the 3T80UJ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Michael Butler

Per John Deere's web site, sure looks like parts are available through JD. Might not be a kit per say, but at least you can buy them.

I have a 650 and had to do the rear seal & bearing, con rods bearings, and replace a piston. In short, I had to cobble together different parts from different places to complete the job. Hoye, Frederick's Deere, and a few others were places I had to use. I do not think Deere had the rod bearings but Hoye had a cross-reference and I found equivalent Yanmar parts. I forget where I got the head gasket. Deere did have the piston, which came with rings. The 50 series were good tractors (at least mine is), great on fuel, and convenient to use. But finding parts is indeed a hassle.

The fact that there is a J in the serial number means it is pretty much exclusive to John Deere. I went through all this when I had to replace a cracked piston in the engine of my 650 2 years ago. I found almost no parts that were available through Yanmar would match up with the Deere parts. One piston with the rings on it was $145.00 and rings for the other piston was ~ $50.00

I'm beginning to see I'll have to use multiple sources. I found an overhaul kit with everything except cylinder liners at Weavers Compact Tractor. Fredricks is just a few miles from my home so I'll visit them tomorrow to see what they can find. Thanks.

Fredricks had the parts, no kit, but the prices seemed high. I found a company in south Alabama (Southern Farm Equipment) that has a great selection of parts for a 750.

The JD site list major engine parts but not gaskets or rings (unless I wasn't looking at the right page). But I found a company in south Alabama (Southern Farm Equipment) that has a great selection of parts for the 750.

Fredricks has the individual parts (no kit) but their prices seemed high to me. I found a company in south Alabama (Southern Farm Equipment) that has a great selection of parts for the 750.

I checked with a Yanmar dealer that's close to me (Fredricks). They have the parts but their prices seemed high. I found a company in south Alabama (Southern Farm Equipment) that has a great selection of parts for a 750.

Steiner told me they don't have any parts for a 750, but I found a company in south Alabama (Southern Farm Equipment) that has a great selection of parts for a 750.

I tried your suggestion without much luck. I learned that some of the suppliers don't know what they're talking about (two companies asked me
to send a photo of the pistons so they could determine if they had the correct rebuild kit). But I found a great source in south Alabama
(Southern Farm Equipment).
