Callicrate Pro Bander

How many here use the Callicrate Pro Bander or different bander they recommend? Any good, bad, or other opinions? I've used a clamper for several years but I don't have the strength in my wrists and hands that I used to have. I'm just looking for alternatives.

We used the cheerios for decades with good results. don't remember what brand it was. Had 4 pins that stuck out on the top side when we used it. Then just pulled the sack by the hair down through and released. We did it as deacon calves was easier on the calf and easier for us to get it on.

I had one. I had trouble getting the bands out with my hands to get them on. I sold it to Billincolorado and bought one of those big Tri Banders. Those have two bars to hold the band open in a triangle so you can so you just hold it up under and pull the testies down through it. If you're having trouble with strength enough to use the clamp, I don't think your hands would last long with the Callicrate either. I've banded calves over 800 pounds with the Tri Bander.

I have one and like it. The biggest challenge for me is getting the band out far enough to get it over the bag yet tight enough to keep the balls inside the loop. Takes some practice and I dont do enough to stay in practice. I bought the Callicrate unit because I had so much trouble with the four-pin spreader and small green bands.

I use an Eze Bloodless castrator. It works like a caulking gun but in reverse. It uses a special band and aluminum clip. They cost a couple of dollars a head to use. I have done calves so big you had to put one testicle in at a time. Just make sure you give them a Tetanus shot. It can be tetanus alone or mixed with the blackleg. I use Covexin 8. Again make sure you give them the tetanus shot. Tony

Yep, that's the one I have. I've done that too, pull one through then the other. Pull back to pull the band off the bars, pull back on the T handle, then finish tightening with the trigger. Pull down on one lever to clamp the band then the other to cut the band. Np fishing for the knife to cut the band like the Callicrate, No comparison between the two. The EZE Tri Bander is about like having two extra hands compared to the Calicratte.

(quoted from post at 21:50:00 08/12/22) YOU HAVE TO HAVE A TAIL MAN!

My wife is my "tail man" .

Always extra nice to her a couple days before the job. And keep reminding her how much I love her as we're working.

I use the California bander as well when banding 5-6 weight calves. Takes only a second or two to apply. I ve always done it solo, no tail man. But I do have them in a chute. I also touch them on the leg so I don t surprise them. Almost got a broken arm first time I ran one through and just grabbed him with no warning. Can t say I blame him.
Always make sure they have their tetnus vac. I also make a slit in the scrotum to drain, they fall off in half the time.
