will a 450 LP head fit a C281 450 block with high dome pistons and not interfere with the valves opening? I have heard both ways that it will, and it won't. thanks in advance

Much depends on factors we don't know, and you may not either. If the head has been surfaced (maybe more than once) and possibly
the deck as well to make it flat, and the word Dome had about 10 or more manufacturers with varying dome location and height, it
is possible to have interference. Almost all contact can be moderated with proper testing and a die grinder or Dremel tool. With
no gasket, and modeling clay layered onto the piston crown about 1/16 inch thick, and pam cooking spray on the head/valves (light
film) place the head on the studs with no nuts. Slowly rotate the crank through 2 complete revolutions feeling for resistance or
head movement. Do not force rotation. After 2 turns, pull the head and look for pinched spots or contact. The head gasket will
add .030 to .040 inches to this clearance. If no marks, no issue. If actual contact, grinding is needed. Unless you intend to run
the engine at 150% rpm with stock valve springs, .040 actual clearance should be fine, including the gasket. Jim

I overheard some farmers talking about that very thing, i didn't know any of them,It definately didn't work for one of them,They put it one and went bang-bang,they had to do it over! I didn't have time to find out the details !!

More to it than just clearance. You need to have some idea what the final
compression ratio will be.

Especially if you plan on working the tractor, it could easily detonate the top
out of the pistons!

I think he is building a puller. If so he will likely use AVgas or alcohol to limit detonation. If not, good advice. Jim
