Has anyone noticed? (SV related)

I liked Sv and Barney. The barney was not intended to make fun of the cops. More like look at the fool hardy things the public does. Yes Barney did some rather silly and half cocked things on the show, but that was for the laughs. It's called a straight man and, a funny man and they both laughed all the way to the bank with it. Why does everybody think it is so bad to show Barney, yet think the Keystone cops was ok? Similar actions done.

It was only because he was put on here every day or at least every other day. Personaly I did not care for SV as he was a big blogut. And some stuf he was saying I don't understand why he would say things like he did like he could use his John Deere mower at speeds way abouve wa what Deere designed it for and Deere did not even make a tractor with fieeld speeds as fast as he claimed he could mow. I don't miss him.

From his last post (long gone) it appeared he was choosing to leave on his own, as he was upset with site's moderation. Nothing against SV, hopefully he is happier on other sites and may Barney rest in peace.

I kind of miss him as I had no problem with him or Barney as they were entertaining to me. I just took some of the things he did or said with a grain of salt. Just like I do with others on the site. I'm not one to call someone out on something far fetched they say or do on here, just keep it to myself.

I hated to see some of the others that have left here too. I learned allot from some of them. A few of them were always helpful to anyone who asked for help too. I can't remember exactly when I started on here but was probably well over 20 years ago and it seems like there is getting fewer and fewer people on here all the time.

Wrong, caterpillar guy.

"Barney" was designed to make fun of the guys here who quote supposed "law" when it comes to load securement and hauling.

Myths such as "straps are illegal," for example.

Though at times SV seems to be a proponent of "no straps or chains whatsoever."

Funny how so often one of us is embroiled is some kind of issues on the site and then once he leaves, everyone holds a funeral wake for him saying how much we miss him. That wouldn't necessarily apply to this particular post but I've seen it many times. Don't worry, I'm not leaving quite yet but when/if I do, I expect to read about how I am missed so much and what a great guy I am ..... ha!!

WOW--Name calling?? SV probably does more work with his Deere 3020 in a day than half of the key-board wannabe farmers on here combined do in a week!! I wish he would come back---Tee

(quoted from post at 06:53:09 08/08/22) If you dont care for someone on here just dont open the thread

If the someone you don't care for didn't originate the thread, how do you know not to open the thread?

At least on other sites with more modern forum software you can block members you don't care for, so you won't be blindsided.

"At least on other sites with more modern forum software you can block members you don't care for, so you won't be blindsided."

Change software!! You do realize that if Classic goes away this site will be like a ghost town, because so many said they will leave.

On the serious side, Chris and Kim deserve a lot of credit and thanks for keeping the two views working as well as they do.

He made fool of himself over at newagtalk and almost everybody ignores him now. Im not impressed by what he does considering the way he acts. Far as wannabe farmers go, his tractors arent even big enough to run my augers at harvest time.

Ya got to make do with what you got--My first farm tractor was a Deere 3010 gasser--When I pulled it hard it had trouble getting past the gas barrel!!---Tee

I'll believe that when I see it.

Like Rich says, I'll believe it when I see it.

If they're really worried about losing traffic, they could always allow political discussions.

Allow political discussion??? Worst
idea ever. Wanna add religion in too??
Plenty of places for those topics.

I miss SV, he was a hard worker and had projects all the time. You could learn something from him. He added excitement here as well.

Barnyard you have it right! many guys here like Caterpillar guy had it backwards.

I didnt even know Westfield made an auger that big.
Ours are all 13 by 90 Brandts. Takes about 110-120 hp
minimum if you run to them to full capacity. There are a
few farmers left on here that have tractors that size.
Cousin of mine has a Westfield same size as ours and he
tried a 4020 on it. Couldnt do it so he found a MW
turbo, slapped it on there and now the 4020 handles it
fine now.

I've always said, if everyone was like me, the world would be a very boring place. I enjoy the different characters on here, even if I dont always agree with them. I'm impressed by those who show a work ethic and have the tenacity to complete a tractor restoration. I know how hard and frustrating it can be. Anytime someone passes or just drops out, a source of knowledge leaves this site.

And I am sure that you are a gentleman when visiting people in their homes.

You're breaking me up Tee. What does the amount of work he does with his tractor have to do with anything? There are grief counselors you can visit to consul you with things that are missing in your life .... like SV ...... LOL !!

If you would read a little closer I was replying to Leroy for calling SV a big blogut--whatever that is. He was running SV down for the work he did with his Deere equipment.----Tee

Pretty difficult to figure out who is replying to who in those threads, especially when a blogut is involved, whatever that is.

I kind of figured his constant complaining about ethanol wouldn't fit well with corn growers on ag talk. Can't say it got me excited... after all, it's where part of my living comes from.

He shows his true colors when he defends a jd 8630 against a STX tractors and Steigers which he had no credible first hand knowledge about. And Im not red guy myself but every time someone complains about green paint he butts in with a slam against Fiat because someone bashing his precious mother Deere. Gets old.

I'm not sure what qualifies as political on here. However I've noticed several posters on the forum that routinely praise some people and ideas that I thought would qualify and that have caused national controversy. Not my website and I am not a keyboard cop, I just skip to something more palatable.

That's why we either address the person by name or else go on modern view and use the "quote" feature--like I did here.

(quoted from post at 08:33:31 08/09/22) You most likely had at least 2 gas barrels then!!!!
irst several years around I only was aware of 8N and Ford boards and all was real how to fix it talk. No BS & controversy. Now days those are so dead that without the garbage boards, (tractor talk (not really) and Tractor tales-OT, YT would have terribly low traffic, so YT is going to keep this mud train going. If all the stuff on these two gets under one's skin & causes heart burn one can stick to the technical boards & maybe actually be helpful & useful. On the other hand it one enjoys controversy, trying to influence others to bring them into their own "truths", on and on with nastiness thrown is , needles and insults, then there are two boards for those also. Just one person's opinion. Don't feel pressured to bring yourself into alignment. I look at some of this & when the insults, etc. get going, I do something else moving on. I don't need it. I would much rather enjoy a friendly chat All have a nice day, now!

The ranks of good folks on here with good technical knowledge sure have thinned as of late. Seems this place has turned into nothing more than a handful of peoples personal Fakebook site.

JMOR, there are only so many times you can ask/answer "Why won't my tractor start?" before you start running out of people to ask the question. Most everybody who wants to get their tractor running, has their tractor running.

This whole "old tractors" thing isn't growing anymore. It's time to face that fact. The old guys who have been carrying it for the past 20 years are getting too old to continue on, or are passing on entirely.

That "Boomer" generation has by far the largest number of "farm kids." With every passing generation there are fewer and fewer farms, and hence fewer and fewer farm kids to pull from to keep this thing going. Those kids in turn are being pulled in to help operate and manage the massive farms, leaving little time for "frivolous" activities like playing with old tractors.

All this results in fewer people participating, and resulting lower traffic in the forums like this one. It's natural, unfortunately.
