Steering hose sprung a leak and sprayed oil on the muffler.

I waited for the smoke to stop before I opened the hood.
Had fire extinguisher in hand.

What does a 5ft hose run on your neighborhood?

$90 in Terre Haute.

I was lucky they were open until noon today.
Nice to have a 4010 kaw mule to
take tools and hose to the gravel pit with hose burst.

Two 90 degree JIC female fittings @ 8.90 each 5 ft. one wire hose @ 3.28 ft Total cost of material $34.20 he got paid well for stocking and labor. We figure about double on hydraulic hoses so he made a little more than double.

Does O'Reilly have British threads?
I'm happy not running all over getting the hose made with the wrong threads

(quoted from post at 22:42:28 08/06/22) Local CNH-Kubota dealer would have made a new one for much less.

My bota dealer fabs them up also right out of the box it leaked no warranty : ( The original leaked from day one so the manufacture nor the bota dealer mastered making a functional hose.

The man at the hole in the wall one man hose repair shop did a bang up job making me one his has lasted 15 years pass the original hose life and still going... I have no problem paying his asking price.

I'm wondering George .... what do you mean by 'British' threads? Hose fitting threads of course (not bolts or nuts). Whole buncha stuff below in the link on British Standard Pipe threads (BSP) ... sounds like the whole world uses them except in North America, I didn't know that.

All I know about British threads is what the guys said that made my hose. British threads have an extra thread per inch.

They have made hoses for me many times.
Not once did they screw up.

They put British threads on each end of my hose and it works as it should.

I think it would be insane spending my time and gas to go to another place if they don't have British threads.

I never price the other guys product but at the shop[ would have been less . I am thinking it would have come out in the fifties./ Ever thing is in the computer so with out making the ticket I could not say for sure.

Jerry,
It's like this, I needed to get the terramite back in service.
A trip to town to my hyd hose, 10 minutes later I was on my way back home.
It only took a few minutes to install and I was back to work.

It's all the cost of doing business.

Good chance Kubota uses metric threads.

Id say thats a bit high. I do know British pipe is hard to come by some places. Some wont have it in stock and some refuse to get it. To much to have on hand they say.
If the local had it 10-15 for each end and 4 per ft.

My pal that runs the farm next door paid 157 bucks for 2 lines 2 ft long and 4 crimp fittings ,,. All 1/2 lines. Shux tnhose fittings have gone sky hi. if you can even find the right one ,I know a shop that is having trouble getting the crimp on fittings , I guess That is why everything is SKI HIGH ,.

(quoted from post at 09:33:20 08/06/22) A new pope.

Warbaby you gave me a good chuckle for the day.

The Deere 105 combine with a gas engine I used to have blew a power steering line with the oil shooting straight on a muffler that glowed red at night. The steering got a little funky and out of the corner of my eye I saw a cloud of white smoke coming out of the engine compartment behind the grain tank. I turned off the key but the engine kept dieseling and wouldn t stop running. All the time it was dieseling it was pumping oil on the muffler. I put the tranny in high gear and dumped the clutch but the belts couldn t hold well enough to kill it. Choking didn t stop it. Finally through choking, dumping the clutch and jamming the separator in gear I got it killed. There was no anti diesel solenoid on the carb until a couple model years later.

Why there was no fire will be a mystery to me for the rest of my life and I will remember this for the rest of my life. It gave me a good thorough cardio. After the line blew a second time with the same results I dug farther and found the relief valve cocked a little so it would not pop off. For the rest of the years I owned that combine I avoided hitting the stop when I made a short turn even when the relief valve was fixed and operating OK.
