A guy I help with haying just had their Ford 5000 painted - it's a row crop, which there aren't too many of around here. It was the first tractor his parents bought new in 1972. They keep all of their stuff pretty nice

Would like to have a 5200, 1-65/3-68 diesel, SOS, tricycle. Have no place to use or store. Have 5000 diesel AP that sets too much now.

Shaun,
Just an FYI.
The 5000 RCs (5200) didn't come out till 1967.
Two full years after the AP 5000s.
The 4200s came out in 66 - one year late.

Nice looking Ford, I like the new paint.
My 5000 is the best tractor Ive ever owned, it will work hard all day and not bad on fuel consumption.

There was a fair number of those sold around here. The thing that gets me was that a guy bought a farm a half a mile up the road from me and there was an Oliver 500 that went with the place. I seriously doubt that tractor had 300 hours on it. It just sat in a dark tool shed. One of the first things he did was trade that 500 in on a new Ford 5000 Row Crop. At the time, I didn't give a rat's rear end about the 500, but I sure wish now that I had bought it. I asked the guy who owned the Ford dealership at the time, and his dad, if either one remembers where the Oliver ever went and neither one could remember.

In my case it was an Oliver 550 with White loader and White 346 plow that I wish I could have bought. Dad bought a farm the next road over in 1977 and the owner had the previously mentioned outfit all in excellent condition. I was quite young at the time to have that kind of money and mom had thought dad had overspent as it was so there was no talking her into buying it then paying them back.

(quoted from post at 12:34:39 08/03/22) I thought about useing 6X as model series but how many here know about the 6X 6Y 7A 7A1 designations.

UD s 4200 is a 6X, the 5200 in the photo is a 6Y, my 6600 row crop is a 7A

Thats the hot set up , all favorite tractor , rented one from dick Brady in Fairview ,pa. To plow Wheat ground in September. One the best tractors Ive ever driven .
I should have bought it .

Knew nothing about thos numbers. I had a 65 4000 (41000) a 68 same model and a 68 5000 (5100) all gas and 8 speed transmission. When I had to quit farming is when they left. Over 20 years having them.
