Turned Hay Swaths

The hay I cut last week has had close to two inches of rain in two separate events so it needed turning to speed up the drying. Today with high wind and sunshine it was good drying even though only in the 70s. I recorded some of the raking as well as the drive there with the Massey Super 90. Took about 2 hours to rake the hay and about 4 hours to upload the video. Upload speeds out here in the sticks are unbelievably slow sometimes.

Forgot the link. It took close to 4 hours to upload less than 7 minutes of video which is pretty bad. Guess I was so tired by the time it was done that I forgot the link. Sasktel's internet can best be described as steady but slow. Upload speeds are abysmal at times. I think that the higher quality (HD video) seems to take up a lot more space and time.
Raking Hay With The Massey

Good idea to have an outhouse on the edge of field. I bale hay off the undeveloped developments on the edge of town. Each contractor has a porta-potty on site. Handy.

(quoted from post at 06:16:10 07/21/22) Upper 90's having no problem getting hay to dry at my place.
Good drying here too with low humidity and high wind. In fact it was so windy I was almost going to quit and wait til the wind dropped a bit as it was blowing the swath away behind the rake in a few spots. And almost 20 degrees cooler than last week with temps in the 70s.

I doubt that one has been used in years. I expect it has been "decommissioned". :D

We arent drying any hay this week in Ontario. We have had several rains this week, thunderstorms over night and looks like it could start raining again any minute now. I guess parts of southern Alberta got some bad storms with hail, wiping out some crops this week.

Is this video all taken in the same field, or do you do several smaller hay fields? I suspect some of these are around abandoned farm sites.

I like how easy that Massey starts. Seems to be almost running as you hit the key.

What brand of rake? Dad had a DARF.

Ron, just one yard being baled in this video. An old neighbour's from just North of my driveway. Has been empty over 20 years. In fact I have a video on my channel showing the auction sale when the equipment all sold. Boy that yard has sure changed in those years. I cut and bale the hay on shares. Just got it rolled up good and dry in bales this evening. The rake is a Pollard.
