You can have a new shaft made and bushings. As for the other internal parts maybe, if you have a good machine shop near you. There are two used pumps for sale on eBay right now, maybe could make one good one out of parts from others.

Whats wrong with your old one?

If you have time go on YouTube and check out Oliver66farmboy channel. He goes thru a pump for his 1950T, which should be the same as yours.

Are you really sure it needs replaced? If the gears have worn into the cover that can be resurfaced. Low oil pressure when hot is caused MUCH more often with worn/loose main and rod bearings than the oil pump.

Can I add another question/option? Are the oil pumps interchangeable between the 283 and 310 engines used from 1650 on up to the 1955 diesels? I find all kinds of part numbers and all kinds of prices for them. Some say for 1750-1950T and similar. Others say for 1650-1655. What is different?

I agree with Dieseltech if the rotors are worn into the plate for the pump. You can have that resurfaced. I had that done to a trans lube pump on one of my tractors.

(quoted from post at 06:00:53 07/20/22) Diesel and NYO, Thanks for the tips. It is for a friend and I have not seen the oil pump.
I will talk to him.

Blaming the oil pump for low engine oil pressure is usually the second stage of becoming Cleopatra, Queen of Denial.

First stage is thicker oil, by the way.

The 310 Diesel had a small 6 quart oil pan, and front bearing always suffered, while he has it apart, maybe he should address that problem too!

What shape is the rest of the engine in? If the bearings are pretty worn, fixing the oil pump isn't going to help much. I am under the impression that the oil pump is the first to get oil from the oil pan, so it usually doesn't wear very fast unless some debris goes through it.
