Why would it need taillights?

NO clue. I'm guessing Indian had spare tail lights..

Or the lights blinked like a slow moving tractor..

My grandfather left home one day in 1951 and came home with a 21 inch WIZZARD sold by Western Auto. Looked similar in that it did use an aluminum housing and a 2 stroke engine. The engine exhaust went out the bottom. Sure beat a push mower probably still laying around the farm.

It's very possible the lawn mower was made by the Indian Motorcycle Co. In the early 50's Indian was struggling to stay alive. The company made shocks for cars also. Bad management, finally put the company out of business. The last motorcycle produced was in 52 or 53. I have several Indians. My 1936 four cylinder is my favorite. Stan

That is SO nice and probably my favorite Indian color. My brother has an original 48 Chief and is putting together a second one. I love to just stand around it when he cranks it up.....listen to the motor and inhale the exhaust fumes !

Your Indian looks like a work of art.
My brother had a 1936 Chief 2 cylinder.

Does the 4 cylinder have overheating issues with the last cylinder?

I remember the exhaust coming out the bottom of a lawnboy.

If you parked it for a few minutes with the engine running, you would kill the grass.

It's been said the rear cylinder runs hotter. I haven't had issues with over heating. Next time out I will check the temp with my new heat indicator gun. Stan

Stan,
It may depend on how fast you are driving..

You definitely have a legendary classic MC.

Man, that is some kind of a bike. You must chuckle to yourself when you see riders on the new Indians that are being manufactured and of course they think they are riding a 'real' one. While I'm on here ..... I'm sure you've seen the movie 'World's Fastest Indian' .... great flick!
