When new, they were advertised as the most
powerful tractor on wheels. Rated at just
shy of 70 corrected hp. Sure had a nice
sound under load. I gathered up and sold 5
of them over the years, one with a 3-71
Detroit. Thanks for the picture!

One of 2 things on the tires/fenders....one or the other is too small or too large.

Neighbor had one. Loved the sound but it really struggled with 4-16s in our so. mn. black gumbo soil. I looked on tractor data. 67 belt but only 41 on drawbar. How come they lost so much hp. to the ground?

If you look at the Nebraska tests you will see the 'as tested 'hp figures...
57 drawbar and 67 belt....correcting for air temp and barometric pressure added one or 2 hp to those figures.

That was a throwback from the old days. The tractor pictured is a Western Special....no pto no belt pulley, no foot clutch, but has the extended platform...the idea being the operator would stand on the extended part of the platform to operate any levers on the pulled equipment and still able to stop the tractor quickly by using the hand clutch lever.

(quoted from post at 12:27:59 07/17/22) I like a Massey Harris.
Those little dents are part of it's history.

I think if you look closely, what appear to be "little dents" are actually reflections in that beautiful shiny paint.
