Hello my orbital steering valve went bad on my 800 Versatile it is a 4 port , I found a used one and it showed up today it is a 5 port from what I found out on line the 5th port is for hydraulics , my 800 has 2 separate circuits, one for steering, one for hydraulics. My ?? is can I loop the aux line back into the return line and use it?? these are hard to find used and parts are no longer available . Thanks Bryan

Give it a try, it will probably work.

Since you've already bought the (incorrect) Orbitrol, at this point what do you have to lose by trying it?

Please post back with how it works out, as the info may help someone in the future.

May work but in my years of experience I have seen several folks try to sub a 5 port to a 4 port with no success. I have no idea whether they just returned the 5th line to tank or blocked it but I know of several that ended up blowing seals.

You would be well advised to contact midwest...

Based on the info you've provided, I'm going to assume that you got a unit with 5 ports, one of which is smaller than the rest... making it a closed center load sensing unit.
I'm assuming your tractor has an open center steering system with a dedicated pump.
If that's the case and you did indeed receive a CCLS unit, then you can hook it up and block the load sense port and it will work.... but when you have no steering demand, the pump will be going to relief... so it's going to heat up and burn out fairly quickly.
You could probably find a work around if you could find an inlet unloader for the pump and then use the fifth line for load sense. Or you could just find a refurb/new Ross steering unit that you need... or repair the one you have. They're a bit tricky but not too bad to repair.
