Have you broken a tractor?

I sold a Ford 2n tractor as a parts tractor. I delivered it and there was his 8n that needs massive help. He said he got it from a friend and it was delivered to him they way it sits there. The block was broken by the number four cylinder, the clutch housing was open and you see look into the the clutch and pressure plate. The center section was on the ground. The steering column was pressed down and over to the right side fender. He didn't know what happened, but he said that someone must have been mad about having to deliver it.

Sounds like it was in a wreck. Years ago as about 1954 neighbore was hit on his NAA and split in half. Got a new NAA to replace it.

Dad left our Case 430 idling on the level at the top of his driveway while he was loading up the chain saws. It rolled off down the hill and got smashed up in the ditch. I had the repair bill after he passed away - 2K. But I think that was for the benefit of his insurance carrier - the tractor wasn't worth that much probably back in 1992 or whenever. I eventually got the tractor and it ran OK, but leaked fluid everywhere. Wish I had hung on to it!

If I bought a used running in other wise runable condition not broke up and somebody delivered it in pieces I would not sign for it nor pay the freight for it. I would also file a claim against their insurance for the damages. I would also be taking pictures of it on the truck and before it was loaded like when I bought it to prove the point and a picture of the serial number for both ends of the trip. When I hauled equipment if I had delivered something like that. I would still be there working out a settlement with the insurance company. I also took pictures of the piece of equipment after loaded before I left and if I could would try to get the companies name in the background to the picture or at least some of the building in the picture. I also took several pictures from several angles so they covered all sides. Saved My butt a few times with those pictures. Like the one where it looked like somebody tried to poke the bale spears through the side of the cab roof. I also had the shipping location sign for or about the damage before leaving so as to not get to pay for something I didn't do.
