JD 5075E MFWD

A lot depends on soil type shovels and depth. If you want spikes with 6 inches possibly if you want 4 inch twisted shovels with 8-10 inch depth probably not. You need about 15 horse per shovel to pull it nicely under most conditions. Your in the 60-80 horse if I'm remembering right. I think weight will also be a problem for you. We can pull 16 teeth with our 1466 but it struggles doing it and slippage is something awful. The Stieger does a much better job with it. In fact it plays with it. I'd like to find a bout a 20 foot one for it.

Not familiar with a 610, mounted or pull type?? Start by taking the 2 outside shanks off. If mounted, you might have to take more off to pull it very deep, if pull type, your stuck leaving enough on to take the wheel tracks out. Is the tractor manual transmission or hydrostat?

Breaking hardpan. to create a root friendly environment while leaving adequate residue for wind/water erosion protection. Quite popular in this part of the country.
40 years ago this farm hustled to make 100 bushels of corn. 20 years ago 150. Last year 200 +. Only thing I can figure is aggressive use of iron and yes, biotechnology. Now thats sustainable ag!

Good points. A 5510 plays with it, only 15 more hp, but a lot more weight. And the 5075E, though probably very nimble is going to get tossed around by this chisel. Only 8 shanks but its a beast.
Thanks.
