On my slow but sure process of going through the stuff in my shop and culling things I stumble over most, I've been tripped up the last time, hopefully, by several lengths of steel left from past projects that I intentionally over-bought for. The guy that rents the pasture wanted me to price the lot but I haven't bought steel in so long it's surely gone up since. I have 4 our 5 sticks of 1/8x1 square tubing, some 1x1/4 and some 3x 1/4 strap/plate, a couple pieces of 2 inch by 5/16 angle iron,,,,,, most are ten foot lengths,,,,any rough guesses what some of this is going for x pound lately? TIA. gm

If you were in central MN, Midway Iron would give you a price (ask them how much each of those shapes are per foot) price always reflects both the suppliers cost and markup. Charge 75% of the store price. Jim

Gary, My cost on angle-flat bar etc. is running around 85 cents per pound. Tubing is off the map. Figure $2.00 per foot on the square tubing. 20 ft of 3 x 3 x 1/4 cost me $265.00 last week. 2 x 1 x 1/8 was $72.00 for 20 ft.
