Never noticed the needle wiggling before. Any ideas of the cause or cure for this? It seems to smooth out above 1500 RPM's but probably just can't wiggle that fast.

Try again to upload video. Well can seem to get video to load. Tach needle continuously wiggles about 50 rpm + and -. Never noticed this before.

If it is a cable drive tach, remove the cable and take out the core. put open chain spray lube in the housing and corn head grease on the core and reassemble. Jim

Mechanical cable do what Jim said. Also the piece the cable drives in back of the tach needs to be practically effortless to turn. If it's tight or stick, take the tach out, lay it face down and try to get some light oil in it.

Electronic tach, getting its signal from the alternator, could be an indication of something going wrong in the alternator. Might have it checked before blaming the tach.

Dave 10 minute fix take out the 4 screws holding the grey dash down , will be tight but unscrew the tach cabel YOUDO NOT WANT TO PULL up on the center just take and get some garage door grease, the kind with the small red straw , give it a good spraying turn it a little and do it again. WD40 will work but not work as long. Hope this helps, IF the cabel works up you will have to go to the engine end and unscrew it to get it back in line. BTDT
