I have a 1310 and a 1720 that have a two stage clutch for the pto On either of them the pto will not disengage when pushing the clutch pedal down and have to start the tractor with the pto engaged otherwise it just grinds
is there a simpler way to get it working without splitting the tractor??----thanks

Once in a while you can remove the starter and with some brake clean and a long bent screwdriver you can pry them apart. Block the clutch pedal all the way down. Use brake clean or carb cleaner liberally. Sometimes after spraying you can raise a mower, engage it, push the clutch pedal and lower it in some tall thick grass.

That is the reason that those tractors came with a means to lock the clutch petal down when not in use. They were very prone to stick. I have broken a few loose on the dyno, have jerked a lining off too. !!!
