Ford 4000 fork lift question

Our railroad museum has one of these and some work is being done on it. My question is where is the #1 cylinder - looks like its the one closest to the operator based on the current wiring. I couldn't find a firing order stamped into the block like my Farmalls where the #1 cylinder is closest to the radiator and stamped into the block.

Should be next to water pump. If it is a 3 cyl model firing order should be 123. If 4 cyl. model 1243. That is if memory serve me.

When it comes to Ford 2000s and 4000s you should always tell us if it is a 4 cylinder model or 3 cylinder.
That said, #1 cyl is closest to the radiator on those - true for most engines that aren't transverse mounted.

The thing about a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, it doesn't matter.

You can time it so #1 is at the radiator end or at the operator end.

#1 is supposed to be at the front of the TRACTOR, so if you look at the tractor part of the forklift, it's what WAS the front.
