What is this worm gear for in an Oliver 70 transmission?

Neighbor called with a question about a worm gear in the transmission of his Oliver 70 tractor. I stopped and took a picture today. This worm gear is on the top shaft right behind where the PTO connects/disconnects. I told him it probably ran a power lift for like a cultivator. Another gentleman over on the Oliver forum also said it was for the mechanical lift. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Oops I missed the comma after the word 'not' followed by a long pause.

As in not his middle finger.

Thats my story and I am sticking to it, lol.

Send the $1. That is me. Pointed with my left hand, index finger and shot the picture with my right hand holding the phone.

The nearest one sure does look like a thumb so that would make the one beside it the index or pointer finger I believe.
