1999 Dodge Cummins

Need help, thoughts. 1999 Dodge 2500 Cummins will not always start. After setting will usually start on first revolution, shut off after running a minute, will not start just cranks no start, let set a couple of minutes and will usually start, but not always. If it starts it is on the first revolution. The pickup has the after market Fast auxiliary fuel pump. What might be the problem? Would like to haul tractors. Thanks

Sounds like it could be one or more of several things. Fuel bleed off though would think that would be more noticed at first start in the day. Low pressure from the lift pump bad fuel solenoid poor connection to solenoid Sucking air maybe at a filter or line flex ring in pump if it has one depending on miles maybe time for a pump tuneup sloppy injectors.

Your 99 may be different from my 98. My problem was the fuel heater element. It had a crack in the housing. I took mine off and did away with it. Been starting just fine ever since.

Fuel shut-off solenoid would be my first guess also. I have a White 100 tractor with a Cummins 359 in it and it a
has acted the very same way.
