We decided to plant a few sweet potatoes. My friend brought us the slips yesterday, so today we got them planted.

It took a few minutes to get the final kinks worked out of the transplanter from sitting up for so long, but everything started clicking along after some final adjustments. My youngest son did the driving till I finished playing mechanic and running the bed shaper/sprayer. The oldest son and his good friend did all of the setting.

The bed shaper sprayer combo worked pretty slick for everything to be leftover mismatched parts from other projects.

Oldest son was hesitant to want to bed up the rows. Soo..he picked the task of getting the land field cultivated with the 7150. I still think he wanted an A/C job. Lol. Once he got started good, I fell in behind him with the Farmall 300 and the 2 row bedder to ridge the rows up.

Even for smaller tasks and enjoyment such as this, it still takes nearly half of the farm to pull off getting the work done. It was enjoyable tho once we got going good. I sure hope we can get this shower of rain they keep talking about this week. The heatwave last week did a number on our moisture levels.

You have a fine assembly line of equipment set up for the job at hand. How far apart do you plant your sweet taters? We are waiting for the local feed store to get some slips, and so far nothing. The baccer looks good up on the ridge. Although not stressed I suspect it could a good dose of moisture.

When I was young and worked baccer the farmers kids drove the tractors. I said self if I ever get the money I will be the tractor driver : ).

Its nice to see those Offset Farmalls go to work. All the BTO around here still have a dozen are so I never see any get worked out.

Jim, right or wrong we put these 18 inches apart. I tried to setup the transplanter on a setting that would be a happy medium for the taters and watermelon plants when they get here. We'll use every 4th clip for them to get the 6 ft spacing as set now.
