Skid Loader Tires

Galaxys are better tires last longer then the Samson skid tires. It depends on what you are using the skid loader for surface it will be driving on. Going by the size of tire its small skid loader. Also how much money you want to spend Galaxys are more money when compared to Samson.

When I was in the tire business, Titan or Galaxy were the two toughest tires to mount. Titan being the toughest of the two.

I have been thinking of just putting some truck tires on my skid steer. The tread doesnt really make much difference on concrete moving manure or up stairs in the barn stacking bales. Tread might be a issue if you want to use the skid steer on dirt, for digging or moving dirt or gravel. For the difference in the price of new skid tires and the price of good used truck tires, and person needs to give it some thought. Truck tires can be very tough built, and handle the same loads

These will be going on he front of my JD 855 compact so they won't be getting much had use,the Galaxy tires are only about $25 more for the pair and I like the tread better.

Truck tires really aren't rated for the sidewall loading that a skid steer puts on the tires. Same reason truck tires aren't recommended for trailers. That's one of the reasons for the heavy ply rating of skid steer tires in the first place. Not saying truck tires wouldn't work, but they may not last as long as you think.

I wonder how non directional military type tires would work on skid loaders, thinking they would work good.

Have galaxy hulk's on my skid steer. They have been great. Had Samson's on front of loader tractor several years ago. They were junk.

You could well be right. In my case , my skid steer is only a little tyke, so side wall loads would not likely exceed load rating. I can certainly understand what you are saying though, as some skid steers come rated at 90hp with a 7-8 foot bucket

I ordered ag tires for the rear of the tractor, supposed to be the same height as the tires on the tractor well they turned out to be shorter so now I'm going to have to go with different front tires.

I think we have a couple Galaxies on a telehandler with no complaints. I've not done anything with a Samson tire. I don't know about the mounting difficulty mentioned. The Galaxy just needed pried on.
