Anyone running a 4x4 round baler on a Farmall 350?

Moving this one around today, but the thought crosses my mind...

Maybe, use my 400 case on my 4x5 vermeer. But that's got a bigger engine and is deisel and around 70 hp. If the hay is dry and On nice level ground you might have enough.

You could pull it with that. Dad baled with his three cylinder Deere 2040 quite often. I baled a good bit with my 2510 which was rated 54 hp but was kind of tired. The 335 was a very good baler. Only sold mine because I wanted wider pickup and net wrap. Just bought a Deere 467. Tom

Only way to know for sure is to try. I used my CaseIH 485 (50 engine, 43 pto) last year to make some 4x5s in challenging conditions and it seemed to do well. I dont know if the narrow front driving on the windrow will cause any issues.

Run my 335 with an IH 574. I would also wonder about the narrow front messing up the windrows.

I have used a 400 diesel to bale with a 5x6 soft core baler. Wasnt fast but did the job and the narrow front didnt cause any grief if anything it helped keep from dragging hay on the drawbar. Guess I dont see why your 350 cant run a 4x4 if you dont mind going slow.

I used my 300 utility for a few years on a Massey 450 roll baler-it was 4x4. (Closed throat-not a great baler!) It was basically a first gear operation, but it did it ok. I later upgraded to CIH 485, and now use a 4x5 M&W baler. I usually run that in 3rd low, but drop to 1st or 2nd on a steep hill with an almost full bale. Mark.
