Finally finished planting

Finally got finished planting. Planted some corn, oats and barley this year. With the high cost of fertilizer I decided to grow some barley for feed to cut back on corn. Was tough yet, but not the worst. Was cold and wet to start, then got a bit done, then got over 5 of rain over a week. I used the 1030 for chisel plowing, discing, and harrowing.

The 1030 ran good this year, I had the injection pump and injectors redone this spring. Runs better now, but starts smoking as soon as a load is put on. I'm wondering if I have the timing off or a setting is off in the pump. Runs great ad pulls good, just smokes all the time. Not thick black smoke, and even under heavy load it's not excessive, just all the time.

Planted with the 400 again and the case 454 corn planter and case grain drill. All worked great. The hydraulic pump on the 400 is getting weak, so I'll need to address that before next year.

Had a little shower pass through while I was planting barley and when I stopped to check the seed level I caught this pic.

Did get stuck a couple times. Working around wet spots and pot holes gets frustrating. This time h the previous pass went fine, then this.

In my area that's how it is most years. Had a flat on the 1030 this year too. Came out in the morning and saw the tube sticking out the side wall of the tire. Found an old vulcanized patch that went bad.

There are no new tires available in that size right now, but I was able to find a used one that will get me by til I can get new ones.

Didn't get many pics of the fields this year, was too busy I guess.

Now it's spraying and getting ready for hayng. That is coming sooner than I want too. Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Nothing like working a field with do I and don't I dare decisions. Each pass becomes a bigger chance of getting stuck up and having to get pulled out, not to mention the ruts that are left.

I planted about 60 acres this year. I have abut 30 of hay now and may get another 60 acres I I can come to terms with the owner.

Here at Lima Ohio and I know you know where that is as that is where we met. I would guess less than a quarter of ground planted and a lot not tuched, Way too much rain, last week I would guess at least 4 possibly more, water setting every place. All corn farmers want to be done before ths with most beans in ground by now. I understand you have moved since we met and I am no longer on the farm either.

We finally got all the corn planted and about 20 acres of beans. Still a lot more to planr like about 450 beans yet. Rains about every third day.Got about 300 acres ready to plant if it doesn't rian so much I have to rework it all. Still about 150 to dig up yet.

Definitely enjoyed the photos Jon ! Great to see your Case equipment doing spring planting. Favorite time of year, when the trees have still yet to grow leaves. What was the date of the latest photo, just wondering as being further north where you are it greens up later than here etc.

If I was harvesting a hay crop here, I would have done at least 2 fields here this week, the weather was ideal and the crop was not too dense yet, all nice green orchard grass, that I'll end up using the rotary cutter on. Sure does seem to grow tall quickly in some places.
