yearend review of new Kubota MX6000

I semi retired my MF65 gas after 42 years of hobby farm use and replaced it with a new MX6000 mainly because I am creeping up there in age (79) and wanted power steering, faster hydraulics and getting rid of the clutch. The Kubota fit the bill in those areas. What I liked about the 65 that the Kubota does not have is the hand crank adjustment of the three point Hitch that I could reach by leaning over the back of the tractor without getting off. To adjust the Kubota you need to get off and awkwardly adjust the tilt by wrestling with a square tube type adjustment. The MF65 also had ground speed PTO which the Kubota does not have probably because of the HST. I also don't think these tractors were designed for a 6'1" 185lb operator with normal leg length and size 13 work boots. What I find a little awkward is the HST control when backing up and twisted in the seat looking back. That also raises the problem of the seat and steering wheel position. To comfortably operate the HST pedal my knees should be at least parallel to my hips rather that above them. When I added a couple of inches to the seat to accomplish that my legs get in the way of the steering wheel when I turn in the seat. To fix that problem an adjustable tilt steering wheel would be nice. Overall I am happy with the Kubota but they could maybe accommodate us taller guys with a few improvements.

Kubota uses that rocker type control for
the hydro. Lots of complaints about it
being uncomfortable to use. Rental yard
here locally says that everyone that rents
them complains about it. The 2 pedal
design like Deere and MF uses is soooo
much nicer to use.

That tractor has the worst seat in the
world. Here's what you do to solve that
problem.

I turned 600 hours on mine today.

es, I think if they would position it so it was left and right instead of heal and toe you could just use your toe to operate it and rest your heel on floor.

harlie, does that seat have height adjustment other than the softer or harder suspension?

Says who,,I have 26 in a rental fleet and never have had that pedal complaint , if anything folks comment they love the foot control/. As for the seat he purchased a PRICE COMPETIVE or MX that is what the X stands for. With a stander M he would have got a better seat and the crank type adjustment he prefers. One of those things you get what you pay for.

I have to admit I don't care for Kubota's treadle pedal. It's not the tractors fault but mine however. I broke my ankle badly several years ago and rocking my foot back and forth bothers it. I can't say I'm a big fan of JD'S twin pedal design either but between the two I personally like the Jd better. Other than that I like the Kubota compact tractors.

The only place I have heard of complaints on the Kubota Hydro peddle is on here. I currently have one with that type of peddle and have owned two others that I've traded in that had it. I have never had any problem and have always been satisfied with the way it works. I have ran the Deere two peddle system and liked the Kubota setup better. Maybe I just don't know any better because I'm just use to the Kubota setup and I have always been happy with it.

I just sold a L2501 Sunday with 4 way bucket and the BH77 backhoe. Yesterday I picked up an MX5400 with front remotes, pallet forks and a
Heavy duty front bucket.
Too early to see what develops.
