Implement wheel speed ratings

I have the hardee tilt trailer.
The wheels on it are rusted out.
I was gonna put new implement wheels but
everything I find is only rated for 25mph.
Why are the rims only rated for 25mph. I
was going put radial trailer tires on it
and pull it down the road and use it for
long trips.

I am being to think my idea of using it is
just a waste of money.

The difference is the safety rim part, that is what keeps the tire on the rim if it goes flat. White spoke wagon wheels for a trailer will be cheap, and most trailer dealers will have them in stock.

It has implement hubs and lug pattern
I wish I could put actual trailer wheels. Do you have any idea how I could convert to a standard trailer lug pattern.
Thanks

You would need to do some measurement but it is likely you could find hubs to do that but it will not be cheap

Graveyard, what is the bolt pattern of the hubs? (Number of studs/bolts and bolt circle diameter)?

That would be the FIRST info one would need to find matching wheels, IMHO, and good info to post if you want folks to help you find wheels.

Buy new trailer axles, cut the old axles off, and install the trailer axles.

Probably more expense and time than it's worth.

You could go with Plan A. Put radial tires on new implement rims, throw caution to the wind, and hit the road. The trailer needs new rims and tires anyway so if it doesn't work you won't be out anything. Get at least 16" rims and use LT rated tires. It's just about impossible to find an LT rated 15" tire anymore.

Rumor has it the bearings in implement hubs are not "high speed." Take that however you want, I have no way to confirm. You also do not have trailer brakes, which may be a problem on the off chance that you need them, or you get pulled over. Maybe you're in one of those states that doesn't require trailer licenses or trailer inspections or trailer brakes. If so, Git-R-Dun.

Older trailers tend to bring good money for their age and condition. You might be ahead to sell your old trailer and buy one that fits your needs.

If the wheels are rusted out, what condition is the frame?

Its because the rim centers are so thin. You didn't say what size tires you have on the trailer. It you can find rims off a farm tractor, those centers are far heavier than wagon rims.

If it is 5 lug the most common was 5x5-1/2 That was the Ford, IH, and Jeep pattern. (truck)6 lug could be Ford,Dodge, and some Chevy. Watch the center hole, that is where there different. Mesure from the center of a wheel stud,to the the center of the lug that is the farthest away from the first. It s easy to measure, it just doesn't look right when you do it!

I don't see how the bearings would matter for highway speed or not. Look at all the bearings listed for implements and then see how many will interchange with planter disc bearings or drill bearings or other wheel bearings for other things. I call BS on the speed deal. You can buy heavier wheel ratings for the wheels if you look for them. Shoup and Hey Wheel both have weight ratings on their wheels by poundage. Also for hubs abd spindles and can buy both as a unit or separate.
