Dad bought it from a ad in the local paper in 1981 for $500.00. Previous owner had put the custom paint job on it.

So I guess dad was right around the same age as I am now when he bought this beast. He quit farming in 1987, and just used the tractor for going to the bush for hauling wood, until Alzheimers got control over him in 2003. When we cleared out dads place, no one wanted the old Case, except that is for me. My brothers just wanted stuff gone.

I can appreciate your pride in having your dad's tractor. Without the family its just another old tractor. With your dad's connection its family history. I hope you can add to the memories.

Got mine running today also. Going to plant a little sweet corn with it (and mounted tool bar unit)
Then I'm going to hitch it back up to the PTO alternator like it was all winter. I heard talk on the radio today of rolling black outs nationwide this summer.

Bruce I'm proud to see you held on to the old Case. I'm down to the last couple of tractors that my father and I collected over the last 25 years. The one that I will not part with is the 63 Ford 4000 that his father bought new and farmed with until th late 70's

VAC or Case 300 are nifty little tractors (easy on and easy off) for blading the rock drives with the good hydraulic system. My dad plowed my gardens with my 300 that I've had now for 30 years, so it is a special tractor to me.

I let a friend use my dads 47 VAC for raking hay for a couple summers. He like it so well, that he begged me to sell it to him. I finally relented, and let it go, because I really didn't have a use for it, or a decent place to get it out of the weather. I have regretted it ever since. It was a great little tractor, perfect for skidding fire wood logs out to a cold deck for bucking.

We always found this tractor was very agile for working in the bush. Most of the time I spent in the bush was always during January,February and March. We can often have deep snow in the bush and the ground beneath the snow never really freezes down very far. But this little tractor didnt weigh all that much, and could work around places where a loader tractor would just sink. Great for skidding out 30-40 foot long cedar to make into fence post. And cold temperatures never bothered the little gas tractor at -30F.

I like it. I have a VAC that i bought around 1983 or 84. It is very handy as well. I still have the VAO that my Dad bought in 1976. It will never be sold. Bill

VAC Case is a great smaller tractor. I had one years ago and wish I never sold it. Thanks for the pictures, and the tractor's history.

OH OH! Big Tee is going to be all worked up the rest of the day if he see's this.
