Farmall H mag on Allis B?

I've a Farmall mag on an H,t's more complete than the mag on the Allis B.
Can I put the H mag on the B?

The mag will bolt right on, the question is if there's enough adjustment in the mounting slots to allow adjusting it to fire @ tdc without changing the timing at the governor drive gear. The IH timing slot is about 45 degrees past vertical when the mag fires,IIRC the Allis is horizontal.

Mags for both applications would turn CW when looking at the impulse end.

Put my H distributor on a dc case to see if would run and it worked. DC mag was terrible inside.

The other question besides can it fire at TDC is how much advance is built into each magneto? After it starts at TDC the impulse on most will advance to whatever the max advance that is built into the impulse coupling. So if they are not the same, the ignition timing will be off.

P.S. a magneto really needs to start at TDC if you are hand cranking it. Otherwise it will fire too early and possibly break your arm.

I read the WD and can mags swap, so I think mine should also.

Standard IH H-4 magneto fires at 35 degrees ahead of top-dead-centre (TDC)
I think the Harvester-thresher version fires at about 15 degrees ahead of TDC. It is on a slightly different front impulse mounting.
The diesel starting and W-9 magnetos turn the other way.
