Farmall c cultivator adjustment

Hey all, I have a two row cultivator for my farmall c and
was wondering how you typically go about adjusting it to
the right row spacing. It is a wide front c. Im planting
sweet corn on 30 spacing with a walk behind planter
with a row marker. My question is for anyone out there
with the experience, where do I start? Center on the
tractor and then measure out 13 or so inches on either
side? Also how much space do you typically leave
between the tines for the rows themselves?

This is from manual for c 244
Do you have rear section?
Be very careful you dont lift shank to high and put the shank thru oil pan ! Set the touch levers stops so you dont !

I know they were designed to cultivate 2 rows.
But for my garden work, I just put cultivators on one side of my JD H and take my time and try to do a good job.

I'd measure out to where the row would be then center my shovels on each side of the row while marking where the next row would be so as not to take it out while cultivating the first one. If this makes sense.

Just guessing that you will have to set the wheels in a lot so you don't drive on the next rows. Those tractor were designed for 40 rows or wider, hard to get them in to use 30 rows.

I know the rear wheels will move into 30 inch spacing, not sure on the wide front axle. Just recently did this on a Farmall 300 but it has a narrow front. Anyway, your wheel spacing will have to accommodate your row width spacing. After that if it were me, I'd drive into a set of rows with my wrenches and start adjusting to fit the rows. Soil conditions, the way the planter left it, and row regularity will dictate how close the front cultivators can be set to the row. It'll take a little trial and error to get it set to do a good job.

If you're not planting with a two row planter where the rows are always a fixed distance apart, you might be wise to only use one row of your cultivator. Unless you're really short of space, 36 rows would suit your tractor a lot better and save work trying to move wheels.
