John deere A hydraulic fluid

I don't know much about my 1949 model A so a little help please. After I replaced the transmission fluid I hear a way more loud humming/what I think to be transmission noise, while I'm driving. It didn't do it before and I filled the transmission from the port under the seat on the powertrol because I thought they were together but now I'm not sure. But the hydraulics still work fine. Idk where the check valve is for the transmission nor the hydraulics. But if I open the plug on the side/top of the transmission or something just about a foot to the right of the pto, it overflows with a tan-ish close to solid liquid. Idk what it is but lmk please. I'd love to know every in and out of this tractor for maintenence thanks.

Can't answer your questions, but I would suggest you order a shop manual.

Forums are good, but nothing beats having reliable written information in hand when you need it! I prefer the real paper manuals over electronic down loads. Something you can carry to the shop, write in, get it greasy!

Be careful what you open on the computer though, the 'we have manuals for everything' sites are known virus spreaders! Ebay is a good source, this site may can get them too.

You can view or download and save or print the Operator's Manual from the official John Deere TechPubs site for FREE by entering your model number at the link below.

https://techpubs.deere.com/en-US/Search/Equipment

At the linked site, once you've entered your model number and found the OPERATOR'S MANUAL, click on it and it will download as a .pdf.

The Operator's Manuals can be downloaded for FREE, the parts and service manuals are pay-to-download.
