New N-Series Owner

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for adding me onto the forum! I am a new tractor owner, and I decided to get a Ford 8N. I was able to find a great deal on one here in Michigan and picked it up earlier this week! It's a 1948, seems to be an early to mid year Serial number!

I have already been poking around on the forum for information and learned a whole lot and look forward to even more discussions and knowledge that can be learned here!

Thanks again and look forward to talking with all of you!

Looking forward to using the tractor for snow clearing in the winter, some auger work this summer putting in a farm fence, loading and unloading pallets, as well as yard work and and who knows what else!

Looking into getting an auger, boom pole, fencing spooler/stretcher, and carry all to start!

And looking into TOH live hydraulics additions to be able to work with the hydraulics with or without the PTO, along with adding in a hydraulic top link to be used with the boom pole and carry all!

Congratulations,, you seem very optimistic, live hydraulics and hydraulic top link on an 8n will be
an accomplishment

Good choice. Just remember that an 8N will barely kill ya. Treat it with respect, it's a good tool.

I've augered, moved snow, brush hog, finish mow, spread dirt, and lifted stuff with the boom. There is a limit to what can be done.

The best aftermarket hydraulic setup for me was a front mounted pump, with the PTO shaft sticking through the grill. I never wanted a rear PTO driven pump.

Enjoy.

When you decide you have to have a rotary mower for it, be sure to get an over running clutch for the PTO shaft!

So now are you going to do the tractor drive at the bridge this year with it? If so you need to be a member of a club and sign up with your money. Otherwise I am not a N fan.

Great first tractor! It will make you
appreciate the live power and hydraulics on
your next tractor.

(quoted from post at 16:24:01 05/20/22) Welcome a board! What part of the mitten state? I'm on the west side half way between the Zoo and the lake.

I am halfway between Jackson and Lansing, just a little east!

Yes, absolutely! I already picked one of those up for it! I did enough research to know that would be a must! The mower is probably coming next year, but I definitely wanted to be prepared!
