(quoted from post at 10:13:11 05/19/22) I forget which garden tractor site it was but we discussed various guys getting stopped on their garden
tractors going to or from the local tavern. Then somebody said he had a neighbor who was lawn mowing his
roadbank with a beer in his hand when the Sheriff went by and stopped. YEP, a DUI against his license.
I used to drink a 12 pak while mowing with one of my garden tractors, and mowed some roadbank, but tried
not to hold a beer while mowing those areas. Now with the zero turn with steering levers I have no free hand,
plus I prefer Mike's Hard Lemonade anyhow.
And speaking of getting a ticket on a lawn mower, was on one of the Deere sites, guy got a ticket for
improper safety emblems and lights for NOT having an SMV emblem on his toy tractor, they all came with one, he
must have taken it off. My zero turn didn't have one but I'm slowly making making one to hang off the ROPS. I
mow about 500-600 feet of roadbank and I really don't want to irritate a local law enforcement official.
(quoted from post at 11:08:31 05/19/22) In Michigan you can get a DUI driving a boat. A friend got his second DUI while riding a bicycle. I assume you could get one while operating a tractor on the road.
(quoted from post at 10:30:19 05/19/22) In Texas the game wardens routinely can and do stop any boat and do a safety equipment check, no reason needed.
If there is any suspicion of the driver drinking, they have to go to shore and do the field sobriety test, followed with a blood sample, a huge fine, and jail!
They also 'can' (and probably will) invoke zero tolerance on any trace of drugs found in the boat, which means the boat and contents are confiscated!
