I would suggest using a rose bud for heat if your not already using one,

position everything so that you can use a very heavy hammer or sledge to hit the bottom of the jack to shock it.

be patient between heating's and let it cool completely before heating again and do not cool with water.

If you have an access hole on the topside of the deck that allows you to get to the blade nuts, take a large piece of shaft to use as a punch and hit it with a very good size sledgehammer to jar it loose. Will have to keep rotating the stump jumper and hitting it. Every one I have taken apart had a splined shaft with a taper fit. Some seem to grow to the machine but I have always gotten them to come apart like this.

Use a die grinder to flatten the surface of the hub where the keyway is located so that surface is flatter at and farther away from the key. Center punch the new flat spot 1/8 inch from the key. Drill parallel to the key up into the hub with a 1/4inch bit, as deep as possible. center punch for a second hole farther away, use a tapered punch that fits the close drill hole and drive it in to spread the hub at the key. Jim

The hub has a flat bar that is what the blades and jumper are attracted to. My deck was rusted out so no problem getting to the back side.

Y'all that use Classic view sure make it hard to keep up with a problem : ( are making a new post about the issue.

My suggestion is similar to Jims, except I would stay away from the key slot for this try. Torch a hole in the stump thing to where you can get at the hub with the torch, with your pulling apparatus in place. Install a No. 3 tip in your torch burn a line in the hub straight up toward the gear box, while you have force on the jack. You want the biggest tip possible because you need to cut fast, before the shaft heats up; you cant cut the shaft unless it is red hot. But Im guessing it will pop before you get all the way down to the shaft anyway. With this method, you can save the hub by welding the slot you cut back together.

On the last one I pulled, I turned the hog upside down. Drove a splitting wedge between the stump jumper and deck on each side to put some pressure on it. screwed the nut back on down flush with the shaft. Layed a piece of brass on the nut and hit it with my biggest hammer. it popped loose with a few good blows

I worked for a Bush Hog dealer for a while, and had to remove a few stump jumpers, as well as a lot of blades. Their blade mounting system sucks in my opinion. I like Woods and Deere better. But back to the stump jumper- I know I cut off two with a torch, and if I was replacing it, I would not hesitate to torch it off. Mark.
